Do Unsightly Spider Veins Have You Hiding Your Legs?
Spider veins are a common, mild and medically insignificant variation of varicose veins. They are thin thread-like veins that lie close to the skin’s surface. Spider veins are bright red to blue in color. They can be found on the legs and feet as well as other areas of the body such as the face, neck and décolletage. Spider veins are the result of abnormal venous blood flow that increases pressure in the smaller veins, causing them to stretch and become prominent. When these veins are just under the skin, they are known as spider veins.
Spider Vein Treatment Options
Depending upon each patient's unique condition, we treat spider veins with the Dornier laser, foam sclerotherapy, or a combination of both. Sclerotherapy is a rather simple procedure of injecting spider veins with an agent that causes them to collapse. Lasers are a safe and highly effective treatment for those veins too small to inject. Both procedures erase spider veins with very little discomfort and without any downtime.
